There is a silver lining in everything…

…including in the ongoing pandemic wreaking havoc all over the world.

I am not, in any way, romanticizing this disastrous disease—this year had been rough for everybody affected by the pandemic and the consequences it brings. And I hope this will come to an end really soon (this too, shall pass). Stay safe, everyone.

What I mean is at the very least, there is something the pandemic can show us—like how incompetent the government is, absolutely, but that’s for another story.

But have you ever considered judging people based on what they do as COVID-19 is going rampant everywhere?

[Book Review] THE RIGHTEOUS MIND: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion

“Morality binds and blinds … We circle around sacred values and then share post hoc arguments about why we are so right and they are so wrong. We think the other side is blind to truth, reason, science, and common sense, but in fact everyone goes blind when talking about their sacred objects.” – Jonathan Haidt

I was randomly scrolling through Quora when a particular answer caught my attention.

The section I was in had something to do with the ongoing polarization of our society. Though I sadly couldn’t remember who wrote it, the answer itself was nicely written. Long enough to cover everything, yet short enough to keep it interesting.

At the end of said answer, the writer recommended us a certain book to grasp the idea further—The Righteous Mind, written by a social psychologist of American nationality, Jonathan Haidt.

The book promised its readers a thoughtful insight into moral psychology. And 376 pages later, I proved it myself that the book really kept up to the expectations.

The author started by asking a rather provoking question.

“I want to be a housewife!” and no, I’m not an antifeminist

a married woman whose main occupation is caring for her family, managing household affairs, and doing housework.

“I want to be a housewife!”

I bet you all my current paychecks** that the most common what-if you hear in casual conversations with kids would be, “what do you want to be when you grow up?”

Their answers might vary—a pilot, soldier, policeman, chef, stewardess, astronaut, teacher, and, most of the time, a doctor. But as far as I am concerned, it would be very unlikely that the word ‘housewife’ was included in the long list.

Before we start, I’d like to disclose several things; I don’t have any professional credentials in music, neither have I received any proper training from a proper teacher. There might be inaccuracies in this post but you’ve been warned okay thanks for coming to my TED’s talk.

Taking my occassional Instagram Stories updates into consideration, it would be obvious enough that I’ve got great fondness towards this particular musical instrument.
